We Need One-and-Other
No one knows our children and our family dynamics better than we do. The professionals that we work with are very helpful and we appreciate everything they do, but some things are best understood by those of us who know first-hand the challenges and joys involved in raising a child with special needs. That is why we started Otsar back in 1980 - to share our strengths and thus grow even stronger. There are many new programs and services available to our children today, things that we could never have dreamed of back then. And we thank Hashem for every door that opens for our children. However, many fundamental issues remain.Otsar began as a support group for parents and families raising children with developmental disabilities. Our goals and our concerns have not changed. Sometimes, only another parent can truly understand what you are going through. For that reason, we host "Parentshare" Support Groups and Workshops.
Please let us know what topics are of interest to you. What do you want to talk about, share, or learn about what other parents in your position have done? We are searching for volunteers to join us at future sessions to share thoughts and experiences on topics that are unique to our population.
