JOHNNY BENCH TO TEAM UP WITH OTSAR ON 2ND CELEBRITY GRAND SLAM
BROOKLYN, NY, June 2, 2005 -- Baseball Hall of Famer Johnny Bench has agreed to manage one of the two teams who will compete in the Otsar Celebrity Grand Slam, which will be held on Sunday, September 18, KeySpan Park in Coney Island -- home of the Brooklyn Cyclones.
In addition to a celebrity softball game in which sponsors will be managed by and play alongside former Major League Baseball players on a professional field, the Grand Slam will offer plenty of other family activities, including an all-day carnival; contests; and professional instruction clinics in pitching, fielding, and batting for contributors and Otsar beneficiaries. More than 7,000 people are expected to attend the event.
Otsar is a 25-year-old organization dedicated to enabling developmentally disabled children and adults to become vital and contributing members of their families and the community; providing families with the knowledge and tools to fully engage special-needs children; and serving as a support network for families of children with disabilities.
For information on playing in the game or corporate sponsorship opportunities, call (718) 946-7301, ext. 300; e-mail grandslam@otsar.org; or visit www.otsar.org.
